County Fairs!

Some of the highlights of our fall show season include going to our local county fairs to show our livestock. Each fall we participate in the Carolina Farm Credit 4-H Showmanship Circuit. To qualify for the circuit youth ages 9-18 must show at at least 4 qualifying fairs within August-October. At each show the exhibitor earns showmanship points and are placed at the end of the circuit based on these points. So far this year on the showmanship circuit we have attended 3 qualifying fairs in Guilford County, Montgomery County, and our home Stanly County.

In Guilford County LeAnn won Grand Champion Heifer with HS Miss Key Y105, an Angus November female that was bred-and-owned by LeAnn. Bred-and-owned means LeAnn owned the heifer's mom at the time she was bred and continues to own the calf after the calf was born. In showmanship Catherine and LeAnn competed in the senior division winning second and third respectively with Mattie and Marcie showing in the intermediate division also winning second and third.

In Montgomery County Marcie won Reserve Champion Heifer with Twin B Scarlett Princess, a Red Angus female. In showmanship LeAnn won Champion Senior Showman. Mattie won second and Marcie won third place in the intermediate showmanship division.

Finally in Stanly County LeAnn won Grand Champion Heifer with HS Miss Key Y105 and Mattie won Reserve Champion Heifer with Bell Anastasia, a 1/2 Simmental-1/2 Angus female. LeAnn also won Champion Senior Showman and Marcie won second pace intermediate showman and Mattie won third place intermediate showman.
